Hammer Toes and Claw Toes
Hammer and Claw toes are toes that are bent in an abnormal position causing calluses on the top of the toes and pain
A hammer toe causes the middle joint of the toe to rise up and usually affects the 2nd toe. It is quite common with bunions
Claw toes often affect the four smaller toes at the same time. The toes bend up where the toes and foot meet (metatarsophalangeal joint) and bends down at the middle joint and the joint closes to the toe causes the toe to curl down towards the floor
Dr. Marsh may correct the deformity of the toe with minimally invasive osteotomy or open technique with fusion of the lesser joints depending on the reducibility of the deformity.
