Flatfoot Reconstruction
Pes planus (flatfoot) is most commonly due posterior tibial tendon insufficiency which results in a loss of the medial longitudinal arch of the foot, heel valgus and medial talus prominence
Commonly asymptomatic and painless but can progress into a painful debilitating deformity due to lateral (outside) ankle impingement
There are two forms of the deformity: flexible or rigid
With flexible deformities, Dr. Marsh performs a flatfoot reconstruction with osteotomies and soft tissue procedures to restore the foot to a normal position
With rigid deformities, Dr. Marsh performs a flatfoot reconstruction with fusion of the hindfoot and soft tissue procedures to restore the foot to a normal position
