Ankle Arthroscopy

Ankle arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to visualize and treat problems within the ankle joint. Depending on the location of the pathology, Dr. Marsh may perform an anterior or posterior arthroscopic procedure.

Indications

o   Osteochondral lesions of the talus

o   Debridement of post-traumatic scar tissue and synovitis

o   Ankle impingement (bony or soft tissue)

o   Os Trigonum excision

o   Removal of loose bodies

Arthroscopic debridement is done in most cases, allowing for restoration of ankle range of motion with removal of minor arthritis, scar tissue, loose bodies or other causes of impingement. In cases of osteochondral lesions (cartilage injuries), Dr. Marsh may perform a microfracture procedure to stimulate fibrocartilage repair.
